Day 4. - Kingston to Silkirk Shores

Out the door a little late today. By the time I had breakfast, hit the grocery store for tonight's diner and caught The ferry to Wolfe Island it was 9:30am! Met 8 fellow bikers on the ferry who were doing a day trip on the island. Island is very rural - a lot like Sauvie Island back in PDX . One hour petal across the island to catch the next ferry to the USA. I had a half hour wait for the ferry so laid down and continued reading Racing in the Rain. If you have not read it you should. (This is my second read of the book).

While at the ferry I got interview by a local newspaper reporter who took down my story and snapped a few pictures. Geez I can't go anywhere without the paparazzi showing up!

Today ride was 72 miles mostly flat with a few big hill throw into the mix. The big factor today was weather -hot and humid. Over 80 degrees and high humidity made it a very challenging day. Had to constantly rehydrate and be mindful of my water supply. With the late start and humidity this was my most challenging day yet.

The area I pedaled through today is where the War of 1812 was fought. From everything I have read along the way - this war was mostly a naval battle in this section of Lake Ontario and Kingston was the original capital of Ontario (now it is Ottawa).
